HIPAA-ready mode
HIPAA-ready mode is an organization setting for teams that handle health information. It requires two-step verification for every member and switches off features that can’t run without keeping data. It’s available on the Pro plan and above.
Which plans can use it
| Plan | HIPAA-ready mode |
|---|---|
| Free, Starter, Business | Not available. The card says to upgrade to Pro or higher. |
| Pro, Scale | Paid monthly add-on. The button shows Enable for and the monthly price for your plan. |
| Operations, Enterprise | Included. The button says Activate. |
Turn it on
Open Compliance settings
In the Syntic app, open Settings and choose Compliance in the Security group. You need permission to manage compliance (usually an owner or administrator).
Find the HIPAA-ready mode card
It shows your plan’s option.
Enable or activate
On Pro or Scale, choose Enable for …/mo and complete payment. On Operations or Enterprise, choose Activate.
Sign the Business Associate Agreement
To finish enabling, accept the Business Associate Agreement (BAA) when Syntic asks.
What changes
- Two-step verification for everyone. Members without an authenticator are sent to Settings → Security to set one up before they can keep working. See Set up two-step verification.
- Features without zero data retention are switched off, such as voice input and read-aloud. See Zero data retention.
- Phone numbers connected to the voice agent are unlinked.
Syntic calls this mode “HIPAA-ready”, not “HIPAA compliant”. Turning it on gives you the controls; using them correctly for your own obligations is your responsibility.
Turn it off
On the same card, choose to disable it. The Disable HIPAA-ready mode? dialog explains:
- On a paid add-on, it stays on until your billing period ends; the add-on and the stricter controls stop then.
- Where it’s included, it’s disabled immediately.
Choose Disable HIPAA-ready mode to confirm, or Keep enabled.
Call Center HIPAA add-on
The pricing page’s Call Center Add-ons tab lists a separate HIPAA option for the AI Call Center: Proposed — not offered. The AI Call Center is coming soon. See AI Call Center.
