Suspend, restore or remove a member

Owners and administrators can take away someone’s access from Settings → Members. Suspend pauses access and is easy to undo; Remove takes the person out of the organization. Both can be undone with Restore. Owners can’t be suspended or removed this way.

You can manage existing members even when the organization has no active paid plan. Offboarding never depends on billing.

Open the member’s menu

Go to Settings → Members and click ⋯ at the end of the person’s row.

Choose an action

  • Suspend: the person loses access to this organization until restored.
  • Remove: Syntic asks Are you sure you want to remove this member from the organization? Confirm to remove them.
  • Restore: shown for suspended and removed members; brings them back with their previous role.

What each status means

StatusShown asAccess to the organizationTheir API keys for this organization
Active(no label)YesWork
SuspendedSuspendedNoStop working
RemovedRemovedNoStop working

Keys stop working while their creator is suspended or removed; they aren’t deleted, so restoring the person brings them back.

⚠️

If someone who created API keys for production is leaving, create replacement keys under an account that will stay, switch your systems over, and only then remove the person. Otherwise the systems using their keys stop working immediately.

Members don’t leave on their own

There is no Leave organization button. To leave, ask an owner or administrator to remove you. See Leave an organization.
