Turn usage credits on or off
Usage credits are off for every new organization. An owner turns them on in Settings → Billing, under Usage credits, so the team can keep working when a plan limit is reached. You need a paid plan and a saved card.
Add a payment method
The Usage credits section asks you to add a card first if there is none: Keep going at your tier’s API rate when you hit a plan limit, instead of stopping. Add the payment method above to turn this on. See Payment methods.
Flip the switch
Next to Turn on usage credits to keep going if you hit a limit, turn the switch on.
Confirm
Syntic explains: when you hit a plan limit you keep going on usage credits, and your card on file is charged for the extra usage up to your monthly spend limit. Click Turn on.
What you see once it’s on
| Item | Meaning |
|---|---|
| spent, with Resets and a date | How much credit has been used this calendar month, and when that count resets |
| Monthly spend limit, with Adjust limit | The most credit that can be spent per month. New organizations start at $20. See Credit spend limit |
| Balance, with Current balance · Auto-reload On/Off | What’s left, and whether auto-reload is set. See Auto-reload |
| Buy usage credits | Add credit now. See Buy usage and API credits |
Turn it off
Flip the same switch off and confirm with Turn off. Syntic warns: if you’re past a limit right now, your current chat will be cut off. Your remaining balance stays in the account.
Only owners can turn usage credits on or off, change the spend limit or set up auto-reload. Administrators see Only organization owners can change spending and auto-reload settings.
On the Free plan
The section shows Your account is a free one. Please upgrade to buy API credit. and an Upgrade button. If credits or auto-reload were left on from an earlier paid plan, you can still switch them off.
