Skills security and privacy
A skill is written instructions, not a program. It can’t reach new systems by itself; it only guides a staff member, agent or canvas using the tools and data they already have.
Read a skill before you use it
- In Skills and Agent Skills, selecting a card opens a panel with the complete instructions the skill adds. Some skills also show a Source link to where they came from.
- In the marketplace, each listing shows its README, version, category, price and install count, and a Syntic first-party badge when Syntic made it.
- Marketplace listings submitted by other organizations are reviewed by Syntic before they appear.
Treat a skill like any instructions you hand a new colleague: if it asks for something you wouldn’t allow, don’t attach it.
What happens to your data
- Attaching a skill sends no data anywhere. The skill text is added to that staff member’s or agent’s instructions when they reply.
- Save as Skill in Art Factory sends the current canvas chat to a Syntic model, which drafts a name, description, category and workflow. You can edit all four before saving. The saved skill is stored under your account and listed under My Skills; the trash icon on it deletes it.
- Publishing a marketplace listing makes its icon and screenshots public, because they are shown in the catalog. Don’t put private information in them or in the README.
Skills you attach change how a staff member answers everyone who talks to it, including customers if that staff member faces the public. Review the instructions first, and remove any skill you no longer trust from the staff member’s edit page.
Syntic Code skills
Skills in Syntic Code are files on your computer and in your projects. Project skills load only after you trust the project folder. See Syntic Code security and privacy.
Report a problem
If a marketplace listing looks harmful or misleading, email support@syntic.ai with its name. For a security issue, see Report a security issue.
