Skills usage analytics and limits

Skills are not metered on their own. A skill adds text to the instructions a staff member, agent or canvas works from, so its cost shows up as part of the normal token usage of each conversation.

How skills count

  • Tokens. Every reply from a staff member or agent includes the text of its attached skills. More or longer skills mean more tokens per message, counted against your plan’s 5-hour, weekly and monthly windows like any other chat. See How usage limits work.
  • Slots. Skills don’t take a slot. Only active staff and agents do. See AI Staff and AI Agent slots.
  • Marketplace. Free listings cost nothing to install. Paid listings can’t be installed yet.

Size cap on attached skills

All the skills attached to one staff member or agent are combined into a single block, capped at about 24,000 characters (roughly 6,000 tokens). Anything past the cap is cut off, so if you attach many long skills, the last ones may not be used at all.

If a staff member ignores a skill you know is attached, remove skills it doesn’t need. A few focused skills work better than a long list.

Where to see usage

Settings → Usage shows your token use for each window, plus how many AI Staff and AI Agent slots are in use. There is no per-skill usage report.

The marketplace shows how many organizations have installed each listing (the download count on the card), but not how your own staff use it.
