Auto-reload
Auto-reload tops up your usage credit balance from your saved card whenever it runs low, so work isn’t interrupted. You choose the level that triggers a reload and the level to top up to. Only owners can set it up, and it needs a paid plan and a saved card.
Open the auto-reload settings
In Settings → Billing, under Usage credits, click Auto-reload Off next to your current balance. Usage credits must be on first.
Set the two amounts
- When usage credits drop to: the balance that triggers a reload.
- Top up to: the balance a reload brings you back to. It must be higher than the trigger, otherwise Syntic shows Top-up amount must be greater than the trigger amount.
Click Turn on
The label next to your balance changes to Auto-reload On.
How a reload is charged
When the balance is at or below the trigger, Syntic charges your saved card the difference between the balance and the top-up level. For example, with a trigger of $10, a top-up level of $25 and $4 left, the charge is $21. The credit is added once the charge succeeds.
Reloads run on a schedule rather than at the moment of each request, so a very fast burst of usage can use up the balance before the next reload. Leave some headroom between the trigger and your busiest periods.
Limits that still apply
- Reloads count toward the organization’s Monthly limit on automatic charges. Once that limit is reached, no more reloads happen until the next month. See Limit automatic charges.
- Reloads only charge a card that belongs to the organization’s billing account or to a current owner or administrator. A card belonging to someone who has left is never charged.
- Free organizations are never reloaded.
Setting it up from the plans page
The API Credits tab of the plans page also offers Enable auto-recharge when my balance falls below threshold when you buy. It asks for a Trigger threshold ($) and a Recharge amount ($), and lets you tick Set monthly recharge limit, which sets the monthly limit on automatic charges. These settings are saved before you go to checkout; if they can’t be saved, nothing is charged.
Turn it off
Click Auto-reload On, then Turn off. You can always turn auto-reload off, even on the Free plan.
If the card is declined, the reload doesn’t happen and requests that need credit start being refused once the balance runs out. Keep your card up to date in Settings → Billing → Payment.
